The Peel Institute

This initiative is part of the Peel Institute’s Connected Community programme.
The Peel is a charity that’s been building a connected community in Clerkenwell since 1898. They run activities for adults, activities for children and young people and mental health awareness projects. The Peel’s vision is to encourage a connected community where everyone benefits from living here.

EC1 Echo

EC1 Echo is the Clerkenwell’s free community newspaper. Launched in 2019 in partnership with the Peel Institute, it is a not-for-profit publication that exists to hold authority to account and offer a platform enabling local people to highlight what matters to them.

Chris Walker

Clerkenwell resident and the author/illustrator of ‘101 Moderately Interesting Facts About Clerkenwell’. Chris is an award winning advertising Head of Art who has judged the Kodak International Portrait Awards, and the Design & Art Direction Awards. He is now a lecturer in Marketing for the University of Westminster. On a local level, Chris and his wife set up ‘Bake & Take’ through the Peel, a programme connecting home-bakers with isolated people within Clerkenwell.
